From Big Screen Hottie to Small Screen Super Hero. Some of you may remember a younger, fresh-faced Robbie Amell from the family comedy Cheaper By the Dozen 2 as well as other movies and hit TV shows. However, the young Robbie that we have all been accustomed to has transformed into an older, more experienced thespian.
This 26 year-old actor has an impressive and ever-growing filmography that showcases the hard work and dedication he possesses for his acting career. One of his most recent movies, The Duff, got such outstanding critic and audience reviews that it leaves no space for anyone to wonder if he has true talent or not. During the interview with Robbie, he was very light-hearted and well-spoken in his sentiments about landing the role for this movie, as well as when he talked about some of the other projects that he has been working on. In addition to landing a leading role in a major film, Robbie has also been a reoccurring character on the DC Comic based TV show, “The Flash.” On the show, his character, Ronnie, and Victor Garber who plays, Dr. Stein, merge bodies to form the nuclear man, Firestorm. The opportunities that Robbie has lined up for himself confirm his immaculate and interminable work ethic.
Even though Robbie is a successful actor, he has always had a back up plan. He admits, “I’d probably want to be working in some sort of sports medicine.” Having played hockey his entire life, Robbie feels that kinesiology would be something that he was passionate about, but obviously that isn’t very necessary in his case. Robbie is a very hard worker; however, he makes sure that he puts some time aside to spend with his friends and family. He also, puts some time aside for the recreational activities that he enjoys. His fiancée, Italia Ricci, and he are both in the entertainment industry, so finding leisure time may be a little difficult, but they manage.
Robbie mentions, “My fiancée and I, ya know, we love just going to breakfast, taking it easy whenever we have the spare time to relax.”
We are all familiar with the Robbie that is broadcasted in the media, but what some of you may not know about is the geeky, goofy side of him that comes out in the less professional settings of his life. He confesses to shuString, “Oh yeah, I’m still a jock, I still like to play a bunch of sports, but I’m definitely a geek. I play a ton of video games.” In addition to Robbie opening up about his career and his personal life, Robbie provided some very helpful advice for anyone wanting to become an actor or actress in the future. He believes that one has to be able to take criticism, and be able to take “no” for an answer, but to also be able to stick with it and persevere despite the hardships and hurdles that they may encounter. Robbie’s success story is still being written, and we are so very thrilled to be able to watch his progression. His love for acting has gotten him a long way, and it will take him much farther.
“When love and skill work together, expect a masterpiece.”
