You may know him from the teen comedy, Unfabulous, on Nickelodeon, but Jordan Calloway is far from the quirky pre-teen that he portrays on the show.
Nowadays, Jordan has become a hot commodity, eye candy if you will, after his starring role in the, made for TV, movie Drumline: A New Beat. In less than just twenty-four hours after the movie’s premiere, Jordan gained over 61,000 followers on Instagram, and became, just about, every girl’s #MCM (Man Candy Monday) post. Crazy right? Although Jordan is quite fun to look at, he doesn’t lack any of the intellectual depth that could potentially handicap him in this complicated industry. As a matter of fact, Jordan’s hiatus from television back in the early 2000’s allowed him to further his education and pursue a production degree in college, and what could be better than a guy with beauty AND brains?
He doesn’t look at this break, between Nickelodeon and college, as a setback, but as a much needed learning experience that will be very beneficial to him in the rest of his acting career. Jordan’s love of working in the acting business wasn’t always as evident as it is now.
Jordan admits, “When I was younger, I always wanted to be a Navy Seal, and my brother was the one who wanted to pursue acting.”
As ironic as it may be, Jordan is the one who has found his passion in acting, and his brother is the one who is serving in the military. He says that his acting inspiration originally comes from his family, but now he feels that it is even more inspirational that he can serve as a positive example and make a lasting impact on his audiences through his work. Because “Peanut”, as his siblings call him, is the baby of a big family, he feels that his legacy is a big part of his identity, and he feels that it is crucial to leave behind a lasting one. Jordan’s growth from youth actor to an adult actor is very noticeable and seems to be rewarding towards his craft. Just know that this isn’t the last you will be seeing of Mr. Jordan Calloway. He is just getting started.
